Okay, it’s been a while since we added anything to our blog. after we left Portsmouth, VA on the 26th, we motored to Little creek Marina in Norfolk. We pasted a number of Navy ships being refurbished. Less than an hour after we tied up at the marina, it started lightening, raining real hard and it even hailed. Diane and Mocha stayed there while I flew back to Punta Gorda on business. When I got back, Diane was eager to get moving again so we left the next morning for Yorktown. What a wonderful, historic little town. We arrived late morning on a Sunday just in time to see the boat races. Nothing like our races in Englewood. These were working boats (crabbers, oyster boats and a few skiffs). When we anchored, we had no idea the race would be right past us. And I mean RIGHT past us. The funniest part though was the boat parade before the race. All kinds of boats but mostly work boats, none of them decorated (except on had a bunch of women in bikinis) would parade up and down the river.
We visited the Battle of Yorktown battlefield, several nice museums and witnessed a battleship go through the worlds largest swing operating bridge. We stopped at the City dock for a day and a reproduction of a tall sailing ship pulled up across from us.
