We’re five days into the journey and already had plenty of learning opportunities. Starter Bendix’s can stick. Nothing leaks until it rains. A boat on the hard and leaning 35 degrees is very hard to sleep in: and Although it seems likely to happen any second, it doesn’t actually roll over.
The second day out, April 29, we went though 5 locks and crossed Lake Okeechobee. We motored up the St. Lucie river and found a nice spot to anchor just as a thunderstorm hit. Recommendation – don’t stand on the bow of a boat holding a metal railing while lowering an anchor in a thunderstorm.

After a number of delays, we finally left our home port on Sunday, April 28 at 1:36 for our Great? Adventure. The first night we spent at anchor in a little bay on the Caloosahatche River near Shell Point.
